Q: If I arrange to be visited by a LOCAL Stairlift Surveyor will
I get the hard sell from them to buy?
A: Absolutely not! The survey is completely free and without any obligation
on your part to buy anything.
The Local Surveyor ONLY comes to see you if you specifically request
it and you have agreed the date and time. You can then discuss your
individual requirements in the comfort of your home.
The Surveyor will accurately measure your stairs and assess your
specific needs. Once your staircase has been surveyed, you will
be given your own free fixed written quotation. It is then entirely
your decision - in your own time whether to buy or not.
Q How long does it take to install my Stairlift? Will I need to
redecorate?
A: Because your stairlift is manufactured to the exact dimensions of
your home, it usually takes less than an hour! Curved stairlifts
can take longer.
Your stairlift is fitted to the treads on the staircase, not to
the wall. Because your stairlift is fitted by fully trained specialist
Installation Engineers the process is quick, clean and simple.
Before they leave they will make sure that the stairlift is tested
thoroughly, demonstrate to you all the features - making sure you
are perfectly happy and know how to use it - and of course everything
will be as clean and tidy as you had it before.
Q: What happens if there is a power failure, will I be stranded?
A: The Stairlift is DC powered and will continue to work even if you
have a power cut.
Q: The use of DC battery power in stairlifts was chosen due to the
inherent advantages of safety, smooth power delivery and the ability
to operate THE STAIRLIFT normally during a power failure
A fully charged battery will complete approximately 15 to 20 trips
(up and down) an average staircase. The actual number is dependent
on the length of stair, angle of staircase and the weight of the
user.
Q The user has some problems bending their legs - or the stairway
is narrow. Will the Stairlift fit?
A: Shouldn't be a problem! We have an option called the Perch Stairlift
it is particularly useful for those with limited knee articulation
and for installations where the stairway is unusually narrow down
to 26" (66cms) wide.
Q What is the maximum user weight?
A: The standard Stairlift has a maximum user weight is 280lbs (20 stone).
With an option that is suitable for larger users, weighing a maximum
of 350lbs (25 stone).
Q The Stairway has a turn in it. Can I still install a Stairlift?
In many cases.
A: yes! Staircases come in many varied sizes and shapes, with 'fans' of
steps at the top or bottom, sub-landings, etc. It's often possible
to fit a transfer platform, construct 'infill boxes' or use two
straight stairlifts. Any one of these options is much cheaper and
more readily available than a curved stairlift. And you will save
yourself £££'s!
Curved rail stairlifts can be supplied, but these are only really
needed when the entire staircase is curved.
